We love Brunch at our house…any excuse to drink Mimosas and eat sweet & savory dishes until we feel like we need a nap or a walk! Many times it is for a special holiday, and other times just for fun. And sure, you can go out and find great Brunches around the area, but there you can’t sit in your pajamas while enjoying it…or can you? 😂

With Spring (hopefully) just around the corner (I think…😬) it feels like Brunch ideas are just the right thing to talk about! I have these ideas & recipes separated into sections… drinks, eggs, yogurt and baked goodies.

🍹 Drinks…Mimosa’s are almost always on the menu. This past Easter, my family tried Carrot Juice Mimosa’s which they said was “interesting”. But we usually pick up a bottle of Tangerine Juice from Trader Joes for ours. It’s fun to experiment with other flavors once in a while…adding some different types of liquor to it (try St. Germain, which is an elderflower liqueur) and other fruits and juices. What’s your favorite? Additionally, having a special cocktail for brunch is great…and you cannot forget the coffee. Lately I have been making my own coffee creamer: heavy cream, vanilla beans and spices. On the mornings I am not fasting, I add in maple syrup. Here are links to great ideas for Mimosas, fun Brunch cocktail ideas and coffee drinks:

🍳 Eggs…oh how I love thee…in all the ways! We have one family member who isn’t a fan of eggs, unless it’s hidden in pancakes, french toast or other baked goodies. Some of our favorite Brunch (or even a normal Sunday morning) egg dishes are easier than they look. Eggs Benedict, Quiche, and a couple new favorites…Ham & Cheese Croissant bake and the internet famous “Bear Omelette” which is essentially a french omelette stuffed with Boursin cheese and topped with potato chips. We have been blessed to have friends who share their gorgeous eggs with us, so weekends are all about the egg dishes. A simple favorite is my homemade jalapeno & cheddar sourdough toasted and topped with avocado and two fried eggs. (who am I kidding, I eat that for lunch during the week when I can!) Here are links to those recipes to get you started:
- Viral “The Bear Omelette” (it takes a bit of an effort, but fun to try!)
- Eggs Benedict (specifically my method for making hollandaise easy & fast!)
- Ham & Cheese Croissant Bake (this gets requested at my house often!)

🫐 Yogurt…yes I know, this seems like a weird section but just hear me out. I love to bake. Again, I know that doesn’t have ANYTHING to do with yogurt. Most days my freezer is overflowing with muffins and bars and half loaves of sourdough. On some mornings, my favorite way to enjoy those baked goodies is by warming one up (muffin, bar, cake) and then putting fresh fruit, yogurt and a sprinkle of granola on top! Yeah, might not be the best calorie-wise, but it’s SO good! (I might have done this once with an apple cider donut even) The only recipe I have for you here, is my favorite granola recipe. You can adjust all the spices, dried fruits etc. in this recipe as you like. The link is going to take you to my google drive where you can download the recipe. Make your own Granola! It’s SO easy and so much better for you than most of the stuff you buy at the store.

🥐 Baked goodies…as I mentioned in the last section, I like to bake. I am not always successful, but I always try! Some of my favorite baked goodies that would be fun to have at a Brunch include Gougères (think French cheese puff), Coconut Zucchini bread (toasted with jam or peanut butter ftw!), Almond Croissant Focaccia (worth the effort!) then with your leftover Frangipane, make a giant Almond Croissant! 😍 This post is making me hungry!!! I hope you try some of these recipes but more importantly, I hope you take the time to bring in Brunch into your weekend (or hey, weekday or evenings work too!) because we all need to slow down and enjoy our time off with friends & family!
Until next time 💖 ~Shawn
